Sealing collars

Sealing collars securely seal pipes and cables made of plastic, steel, fibre cement and vitrified clay against a high water column. The bushings in concrete foundations and walls are securely sealed against groundwater and pressurised water.

The sealing collar for waterproofing of pipes and conduits in water-impermeable buildings

The demands on water-impermeable concrete structures are regulated by the corresponding DAfStb guideline (WU guideline). In addition to requirements regarding the concrete structure itself, demands on the joint sealing and formwork ties or formwork tie points are defined here. The subject of this guideline is the corresponding planning and execution of the structure in order to meet the usage properties and usage requirements specified by the client with regard to the sealing function against water.

An issue not considered in the guideline, but not to be neglected for the result of a water-impermeable structure, is the waterproofing of pipes and ducts that are led through the concrete component. With our sealing collar, we offer the right solution for almost every installation situation.

Why to use a sealing collar?

Wherever pipes or other ducts pass through concrete structures, they must be sealed against the ingress of water and/or gases present, such as methane gas or the radioactive radon gas that is sometimes present in the soil.

Since the pipes and conduits have different material properties than the concrete and the latter shrinks during setting, there is a risk of circulation at the crossing points of pipes and conduits and the concrete. Water or gases can enter the building along the pipe wall and create the risk of damage to the structure or even to the health of people in the building.

What is a sealing collar?

To remedy this situation, RONDO sealing collars are used. These are collars made of thermoplastic elastomers (TPE).

These are supplied in dimensions suitable for the medium to be led through (pipe or duct). They are pulled over the pipe to be sealed and fixed to the pipe with stainless steel fastening straps. The layer is centered in the concrete component. The critical transition between the pipe or duct and the concrete is reliably and permanently sealed by the waterstops on the collars.

What advantage does a sealing collar provide?

RONDO sealing collars provide a cost-effective and easy-to-install solution for waterproofing of penetrations. They are available in all common nominal sizes of pipes and lines as standard.

In addition to the permanent resistance of RONDO Standard to groundwater, the alkalinity of the concrete and various natural gases, waterproofing in agricultural plants in contact with slurry, liquid manure and silage effluents and in biogas plants can be done with RONDO Protect, which has been approved by DIBt for this purpose.
